I have come so that they might may have life and have it to the full. (John 10:10)
Our Catholic schools and colleges are very much an integral part of our parish family network. They are there to support you in rooting your child in the Gospel values by nurturing your child/young person to learn, live and grow in that abundance of life promised to us.
In his 2019 paper to young people, Christus Vivat (full paper), Pope Francis says “The mission of schools is to develop a sense of truth, of what is good and beautiful.” In sections 221 -223 on Youth Ministry in Educational Institutions he expands further on this.
We have a good mixture of primary, secondary, 6th form and independent schools available to our young people. On the right is a selection of schools that pupils from our parishes have historically gone to. Click on the link to access the school websites.
The full list of schools in the Diocese can be found here.
Below is an indication by parish, of typical schools attended:
Within the parish of St Bernadette, there is a Primary and a Secondary school. We all share the patronage of St Bernadette.
St Dunstan’s parish is served by St John’s Primary School, Bath and St Gregory’s Catholic College, Bath as its Secondary School.
At St Pius Xth, primary aged children are encouraged to attend Holy Cross: Bedminster, Christ the King: Knowle or St Bernadette's Primary. Secondary school is St Bernadette's. Please note that sadly St Pius Xth Primary School closed its doors in July 2021.
Sacred Heart children are encouraged to attend the St Bernadette's schools and some over the years have also attended the local independents: All Hallows, Downside, and Priory Park.
All our parishes are also proud to be linked with St Brendan’s Catholic Sixth Form College. pictured below.
